I have a lot of bags that I use for different things but the Drifter travel pack is the only bag I'd ever want to take on a long weekend trip, esp... view moreecially if I'm flying. At the airport, most well-traveled weekend flyers will opt out of checking a bag and take advantage of the carry-on plus 1 personal item allowance - it just requires a bit of thoughtful packing. Traveling with a carry-on and a personal item is a lot less cumbersome than lugging a checked bag from place to place; however, navigating your destination with 2 bags is still pretty annoying and makes you look like a tourist. One of the best things about the Drifter is it fits anything you would have packed in your personal item in your carry-on in super accessible compartments. Taking one bag to the airport is weirdly liberating, try it - but with this bag. If the sensation is too strange or if you always have more stuff to pack you can still bring a personal item. I'm not one to buy souvenirs but if I did, I'd be able to pack an empty tote bag in my Drifter, fill it with whatever, and use it as my personal item on my return flight. If you pack smart this bag can hold enough clothing for a 8-day trip (maybe more). I highly recommend this bag - which I hope is clear since I took the time to write about it in my first review EVER. view less
I bought the drifter travel pack about 2 weeks ago. I have been nothing less than astounded by this backpack. I consider myself something of a backpack guru, owning a dozen+ packs ... view morethat I use for travel regularly and having started a backpack company in the past, I have encountered very few pack of this magnitude. The drifter takes the crown as king pack. Let me tell you why….
I bought this to be a day exploration pack, it quickly turned into my daily pack because of its quality, utility, and the downright sexiness of the pack.
This bag is made to be an heirloom. The backpack is made out of the utmost quality leather and fabric. The accessories loops on the bag are metal. The stitching is extremely well done. The zippers to seem to be strong as well. The “architecture” of the backpack is built for utility. It is easy to get into the pack and take out what you need without needing to push past or un-organize other possessions because of the zippers and covering 3/4 the pack, making it great for business uses or travel. This backpack also sticks out in person as “distinguished”. This mix of textures from using both fabric and leather also gives the bag a more distinguished “pop”. The red zipper also gives it a pleasant contrast!
Now, no review would be fair w/o a criticism: This pack is not an $80 bag. I would feel it a great deal at $100 and would expect to see a bag of this magnitude for sale more around $120. don't raise prices just yet, wait until I have bought another! view less
